About Me

Dr. Mari Larrea is a sports and performance therapist and consultant dedicated to helping individuals and teams uncover purpose, maximize strengths, and reignite passion in their work and performance. She partners with individuals, families, teams, and organizations to develop strategies for optimizing performance, enhancing resilience, and managing stress.

Education

Dr. Larrea earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Albizu University and Florida Atlantic University, a master’s degree in Psychology, and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) with a specialization in health psychology from Albizu University.

Training

She completed her predoctoral internship at Brigham Young University in 2023, where she received extensive training in individual, group, couples, and sex therapy, as well as biofeedback and performance enhancement. During her time at BYU, she worked closely with Division I athletes across multiple teams and was mentored by an established clinical sport psychologist, gaining specialized experience at the intersection of clinical care and high-performance environments. She also served as an adjunct professor in Performance Psychology during her internship.

Dr. Larrea brings a broad clinical background that extends beyond performance settings. Her training includes experience in inpatient psychiatric care, community mental health, neuropsychology clinics, and the intersection of medical conditions and mental health. She has worked collaboratively with athletic teams, healthcare professionals, and multidisciplinary providers to support individuals across a range of clinical and performance needs.

Her professional development has also included mentorship from experienced clinical and sport psychologists working across collegiate, professional, and Olympic performance settings. These experiences have deepened her understanding of the psychological demands of high-pressure environments and the mental skills required to navigate performance, adversity, recovery, and sustained success.

Currently, Dr. Larrea also provides direct 1-1 therapy services at a private practice in Georgia under licensed supervision and serves clients nationwide. She is also the CEO and Founder of Elevate Global Ministry, Inc., an Atlanta-based nonprofit that integrates spiritual well-being with high-level performance for athletes, creatives, and leaders.
